HOW TO : Make a Modelesque Face

Hey, everyone! Here comes the first tutorial - How to create a modelesque face! Most of the models accepted to stardoll agencies have one thing in common - they all have very different facial features. You don't see any two sharing very many features. Maybe there's an identical nose here and there, but for the most part, the models all look diverse and have timeless faces that fit most projects' aesthetics and ideas. Because these models are so versatile and unconventionally beautiful, they are accepted to a number of different magazines and have become famous stardoll faces.

There are three main ways to create a uniquely gorgeous face that will get you accepted to stardoll magazines and get you known as a stardoll model. The first way is just experimenting. Play around with some eyes, lips, noses and eyebrows that you don't see too often and figure out what looks right to you. The second way is to find a feature in the beauty parlor you find particularly ugly or uncommon and make it beautiful using other features. The third way is to explore a website with pictures of models, and find a few to combine their features.

Experimenting is probably the longest process of all of these, simply because you have no boundaries or limits. Use this to your advantage by taking your time selecting all the right features, and then checking around to make sure you're not an accidental twin of another stardoll member. Also, because you have the entire beauty parlor, do not be afraid to try a facial feature you wouldn't have thought of before. If you decide you aren't keen on it, there's no damage done; just find another feature you like instead! If you find all the options intimidating, look for a specific theme. You could try to make a doll who looks romantic, natural, fairylike or even like an animal! The possibilities are nearly endless; it's up to you to combine and position the features in just the right way.

Finding a feature you find ugly in the beauty parlor shouldn't be a huge issue - there has to be at least one pair of lips you've always found somewhat cringeworthy. Try creating a face using that feature. You can try to distract from it by highlighting something else, or even spotlight the feature. If you decide that you just cannot bear having that on your doll, just try again! When I first started stardoll, I found my eyebrows unbelievably ugly, but I found a way to make them pretty in my own eyes.

The easiest way to create a medoll would probably be to combine pieces of other celebrities and models. Love Irina Liss's innocent eyes and Ophelie Guillermand's bold eyebrows? Combine them both on your doll! Look for newer models; everyone has seen Chanel Iman and Cara Delevingne before. There are plenty of beautiful, fresher models out there to inspire you.

Also, try out different skin tones and weights! I know I get sick of seeing only white, blonde models, and at some point, so will everyone else. Make sure you try out different eye and lip colors. Face shape should also never be overlooked.

Here are some ideas to spark your creativity. Try not to copy them exactly, but feel free to pull a facial feature here and there until you find one you love!

Don't be afraid to try a bunch of different combinations before you find one you want to keep. Rome wasn't built in a day!
